“Pass Bills. Create Jobs. Support Nevada.” was a digital campaign that utilized Facebook and Twitter to drive traffic to the blog and website. It was created as a grassroots initiative to increase public awareness and build support for a bi-partisan Nevada Lands Bill that had been stuck in Congress for 4 years.
Passage of the Lands Bill would mean jobs and conservation for eight Northern Nevada communities including Lyon County which had an unemployment rate of 19.8%. The goals for the campaign were to build a following, and generate power by numbers in order to:
1) Support our Nevada Congressional Delegation
2) Put social pressure on other members of Congress
3) Build and strengthen the network between eight Northern Nevada Communities, and their leaders
The campaign began in March, 2014. By the end of November, 2014, we had over 25,000 followers and we were receiving phone calls from Washington D.C. and neighboring Congressional members who wanted to help.
The campaign caught the attention of the Las Vegas Sun, the Las Vegas Review Journal, the Reno Gazette Journal, the Mason Valley News, The Humboldt Sun, Nevada Newsmakers, and News Talk 780 KOH.
